From historic proposals to viral videos, take a look at some of our favorite emerald engagement rings of all time.
While diamonds are undoubtedly the most popular choice of stone in engagement rings, we can’t deny there’s something particularly eye-catching about emeralds. Whether it be the pop of color or the fact that we just don’t see them as often as the beloved diamond, emerald engagement rings just stand out from the crowd. If you follow us on TikTok (which, by the way, you should!), you may have seen our video featuring our founder and CEO Chelsey’s engagement ring– a square cushion cut light green stunner with two side diamonds to boot. Her emerald ring went viral, racking up almost a million views and over 500k likes. A ton of people commented about how much they loved emeralds and loved seeing unique engagement rings like that, so we gathered some images of the best emerald engagement rings we could find. Continue below to see some of our top picks.
1. Chelsey, Starling Founder

Chelsey’s engagement ring! This is the sparkler that went viral on TikTok, and for good reason. Chelsey’s Muzo emerald was picked out by her husband, who took it up a notch and matched the stone to the color of her childhood home, making it even more sentimental. It is set with two oval diamonds on each side and the band is 22k gold. Naturally, a jewelry designer has to have a stunning ring!
2. Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor

It’s much more common to see colored engagement rings across the pond, as we have seen with many of the royals' bright and unique choices. One of the most notable emerald engagement rings of the last century is that of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, given to her in 1936 by King Edward VIII. The Duchess received an almost 20ct step cut emerald, prong set with a halo of diamonds, in a platinum band. The king added a sweet engraving to the inside of the band, “We are ours now 27 x 36,” marking the day of their wedding. The Duchess eventually had Cartier reset the ring in gold for their 20th wedding anniversary, but she kept the original setting as a keepsake to hold on to. We like her thinking.
3. Jackie Kennedy Onassis

When it comes to American royalty, the iconic Jackie O is known for her sartorial style. Also famous is the dazzling emerald engagement ring given to her by John F. Kennedy in the mid 1950’s. The ring is in the style of toi et moi, meaning “you and me.” It featured a 2.88ct square diamond and 2.84ct emerald, with baguette diamonds and emeralds swooping around the ring. Jackie later had the ring redesigned and swapped out the baguettes for marquise diamonds. The ring is currently kept at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, sometimes being put on display.
4. Halle Berry

Halle Berry’s gorgeous emerald engagement ring, given to her by actor Olivier Martinez, is a 4ct emerald set with diamonds in an art deco style 18k gold band. Martinez had a hand in designing the custom ring for Berry, and the couple completed the ring stack with a wide gold band.
5. Megan Fox

Following in the toi et moi style, Megan Fox has a beautiful two stone stunner, featuring a pear shaped emerald and diamond. Megan’s ring is set in a platinum band with a double set of claw arms, featuring more diamonds. Machine Gun Kelly, her now husband, said he chose an emerald and a diamond for the toi et moi as the stones are each of their respective birthstones. We love a personal touch to an engagement ring!
6. Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is known for her giant engagement ring collection. The collection includes– get ready for it– 15 engagement rings. One of those rings is a huge cushion cut emerald ring, with a diamond encrusted setting. Beckham started rocking the giant gem in 2007, making it her 7th ring from hubby David. Oh, to be her.
